Gait Analysis After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

Abstract

|
To analyze the gait pattern and utility of the gait analysis for patients who had undergone anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) reconstruction. Twelve patients were selected from the patients who had undergone ACL reconstruction by using fresh-frozen Achilles tendon allograft under arthroscope from March 2004 to March 2005 and who showed excellent clinical and functional results at follow-up. After 6 months of intensive treatment in strict accordance with the protocol for rehabilitation, kinematic gait analysis was carried out using 3-dimensional gait analysis system. From the gait analysis, a little rise in flexion angle at the stance phase as well as swing phase could be observed from the kinetic study after ACL reconstruction. Although the gait pattern was abnormal, it was not true quadriceps avoidence gait. Gait analysis is useful base to assess ACL reconstruction.
